Refiners for bar soap finishing lines
Once the additives have been added to the soap through the mixers, the soap is ready for further step in processing: refining. This operation, carried out by means of industrial refiner plodders, allows not only to obtain a homogeneous and uniform soap, but also to modify the crystalline structure, a step that improves the overall quality of the product. In refined soap hard particles are eliminated, which enhance the perceived effectiveness, increasing the quantity of foam that can be produced and the solubility, as well as improving the sensation to the touch.
Soaptec offers single worm and twin tangent worm refiners in both single and double stage (simplex and duplex) versions. The length to diameter ratio of the cylinder is 4.
Our company is available to help customers design customised machinery, developed according to their requirements and needs.
Thanks to a team of specialised technicians with years of experience in the field, meeting the customer’s needs and creating refiners that are fully compatible with finishing lines manufactured by other companies is no problem at all. In addition, our team can also carry out customised projects.
The extrusion of the refined material is carried out using an innovative system patented by Soaptec: the refining foils, drilled plates with holes all over their surface. The sharp edges of the holes distribute the flow of semi-finished product evenly, maximizing the cutting action.
Soaptec manufactures refining foil plates in all shapes and sizes and also for installation on machines made by other companies. In the latter case, the customer must provide the technical specifications for the manufacture of the parts.

Characteristics and technical specifications
In order to create machines that guarantee high-quality performance, durability and resistance, all parts of the machine that come into contact with soap are made of AISI 304 stainless steel, while the rest of the components are made of coated carbon steel. The screws are cast, polished and mechanically finished. They are made of aluminium alloy G ALSI9, but they can be made of NI-Resist or AISI 304 stainless steel on request.
Like all other machines, our refining plodders are appreciated for their practicality and functionality. In order to improve their flexibility of use, these machines can be assembled with left or right side orientation. The electrical cabinet is an integral part of the machine structure, which gives it a compact layout. The motor speed is controlled by a frequency inverter.
As an alternative to traditional manual eye bolts for the perforated plate, our team installs automatic hydraulic locking, to facilitate the operators’ opening and closing manoeuvres, which entails considerable time savings. Our standard refining plodders are also equipped with a water cooling circuit, with solenoid valve and liquid temperature indicator at the cylinder outlet. Temperature control systems can be added on request.
The electrical control panel, provided with push buttons and inverter, is mounted in a frame that supports stairs and a working platform. The load capacity of the machine is tested according to UNI, DIN, AFNOR, AGMA, and ISO standards.
