Heat exchanger for bar soap drying plants

The heat exchanger is an essential component of any drying equipment, whose role is to heat up the soap and evaporate some of its moisture before the product passes through the spray dryer.

Soaptec designs and manufactures state-of-the-art heat exchangers, which are used in both our own production facilities and in already established plants. Choosing Soaptec products means opting for innovative and original equipment, developed by an in-house team of engineers and technicians after extensive field research and testing.

Our heat exchangers for soap drying systems are durable and built to last and guarantee high-quality performance even after many years of use.

What makes our single pass shell and tube heat exchangers stand out is their simple design. Inside the tank are straight tubes that facilitate the passage of energy. The tank is sealed by two perforated tube sheets. Diaphragms positioned along the entire length of the exchangers facilitate the movement of the liquid flowing between the tubes.

Characteristics and technical specifications

As a leading force in the production of soap drying plants and machinery, Soaptec has made the quality of its equipment one of its main strengths.
The heat exchangers manufactured by our company are designed to meet the strict regulations imposed at national and international level.
The equipment is manufactured to ASME standards, Sec. VIII, Div. 1 and can be subjected to a certification process at customer’s request.
The inlet and outlet flanges are typically built according to UNI standards, but according to the customer’s needs they can be made according to ANSI standards.
All Soaptec shell and tube heat exchangers have internal tubes with an outside diameter of 14mm and thickness of 1mm. The sizing of the tubes required is done by considering the surface area needed for heat transfer, and also the crossing speed, while maintaining turbulent motion to increase the efficiency of heat transfer.
The inner tubes are made of AISI 316 stainless steel, while the shell, cones, plates and diaphragms are made of AISI 304 stainless steel. These materials have been chosen because of their nickel content, which prevents stress corrosion cracking when working with high salt content soap.
To avoid mechanical stress, Soaptec’s heat exchangers are equipped with expansion joints.
The design pressure of the Soaptec heat exchanger is 10 bar (both tube and shell side). The design temperature is 150° on the soap side and 185° on the steam side. All heat exchanger pressure tests are carried out at 14 bar.
